Sacraments of Initiation
Baptism
St. Theresas’ parish celebrates baptism on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month except for the month of October. Baptisms can occur during the 9.30am mass or after Sunday morning mass at 11am. Only 3 Baptisms at a time are usually celebrated.
Families wishing to celebrate baptisms are asked to contact the parish office to confirm dates and complete paperwork.
St Theresas’ Baptismal teams work with the families in preparation and formation for Baptisms.
Baptisms at any other times may be arranged in consultation with Fr. Brian Noonan, parish priest of St. Theresas’.
Baptisms at St. Theresas’ Parish Centre using a different priest can also be arranged in consultation with the parish office. Please contact the parish secretary on 4639 4688 for information.
Confirmation
St. Theresas’ parish offers the sacrament of Confirmation once each year. The Bishop of Toowoomba Diocese presides over the sacrament. This sacrament is usually celebrated in the second term of the school year
Young people from Year 4 or older are encouraged to be part of the sacrament. Most children from Mater Dei school are involved but anyone within the parish is encouraged to be a part of process.
A period of preparation is undertaken within small family groups. There is usually an information night, an enrolment procedure, a commitment ceremony, weekly meetings and a reconciliation liturgy preceding the celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation.

First Eucharist
St. Theresas’ parish offers the sacrament of First Eucharist once each year after the candidates have received the sacrament of Confirmation and First Reconciliation (The sacrament of Penance), usually in the second term of the school year. The sacrament is generally celebrated over two masses on the same weekend in any particular year.
A period of preparation is undertaken within small family groups. There is usually an information night, an enrolment procedure, a commitment ceremony and weekly meetings preceding the celebration of the sacrament of First Eucharist.

Sacraments of Healing
Penance – First Reconciliation
The sacrament of Penance – First Reconciliation is celebrated once each year during the fourth term of the school year.
Young people from Year 3 or older are encouraged to be part of this sacrament. Most children from Mater Dei school are involved but anyone within the parish is encouraged to be a part of process.
A period of preparation is undertaken within small family groups. There is usually an information night, an enrolment procedure, a commitment ceremony and weekly meetings which precede the celebration of the sacrament of Penance – First Reconciliation.
The sacrament of Penance/ First Reconciliation follows the form of 2nd rite of reconciliation in which the community comes together to sing, listen to scripture and prepare together then it is followed by individual confession by the candidates and individual absolution from the priest. After all the candidates have been part of the absolution process, the community comes together to give thanks for God’s forgiveness.

Anointing of the Sick
As the community of St. Theresas’, the sacrament of anointing is celebrated twice each year at a special anointing and healing mass followed by light luncheon.
Individual anointing of the sick occurs when needed by Fr. Brian Noonan, the parish priest of St.Theresas’.

Sacrament of Marriage
Weddings are most welcome to be celebrated at St. Theresas’ Parish Centre.
